If you want a job done right, you gotta do it yourself.
We know, we know. You’re probably thinking, “Why can’t simple instruction be done the way I want it? Unfortunately, people are just not as smart, creative, and handy as you are. They don’t have the same skills as you, no matter if they took the same class for it. You just have that magic touch.
We understand work can get pretty hectic, and it would be nice to hand it over to someone you trust and know who gets it done just right, but that’s really never the case. If it’s not you, then it’s just not right, and that’s facts.
Let’s break it down for you:
Meet John, a high-rated worker who has been in the construction business for many years now. He knows the ins and outs of the business and likes his projects to be done to a T and just how he likes it because you can tell he puts his all into his work.
One day, John gets a new project. He’s excited that he has something new to work on but quickly realizes that he has too much on his plate. There is no way that he could get this done in a timely matter. He tried seeing if there was a possibility that he could delay one of his projects, but unfortunately, it can’t be done.
Meet Chris, he’s been in the business for 3 years now. Has taken many classes, went to school for architecture, and does many fun projects on the side. Due to his background, John thought Chris would be the best man to get the job done. Though he was hesitant, the time crunch didn’t allow much overseeing of his work. So, he calmed down and let him do the job that he was paid for.
A few weeks goes by and the deadline for the project was around the corner. John has finally been able to take a break from his hectic work day and wanted to check up on Chris to see how the project was going. As he finally takes a look at the planning and execution of it all, John is astonished.
“No, no, no. This is not right.” John starts to panic as this project is for a big company, and a lot of money is on the line. He has a sit down with Chris to explain why his execution was not correct. He gave him a 24-hour turnaround to fix his mistakes. If not done, then he has to take the matter into his own hands.
The next day rolls around and John takes a look. He sighs with disappointment. He tells Chris thank you for his hard work, but it would be best if he took it over to finish the final touches before the due date.
John begins to work and after many long hours and a few bathroom breaks, John was done. The project was finally perfect – just how he likes it. Now, Chris did do a good job, but he was missing a few things that were needed and it just didn’t click for him. He turned the project in and was finally pleased with everything.
Do you see why?
Let’s face it, no matter how many times we have to ask or how many times we show them how to get the job done, no one can do it better than you. If you want a job done right, you gotta do it yourself.
Work doesn’t always stop in the office – things have to get done at home too. Here are some projects you can do around the house because you know no one is going to do them better than you.
