Did you know that each state has a nickname? Florida is the sunshine state, Kansas is the sunflower state and Maine is the pine tree state just to name a few. Though there are many stories and legends as to how Missouri was named the “Show Me State,” we at Decade Cigarettes think it’s because Missouri has so much to offer.
So whether you are about to hit the road or planning your next road trip, you don’t have to look very far to see the wonder of the state! But where should you go, and what can you see? Of course, you have the Gateway Arch, Botanical Garden, Silver Dollar City, and Lake of the Ozarks, but we’ve listed a few lesser-known stops to check out:
Lucas Oil Speedway
If you like to be outside but hiking and camping aren’t your vibe, you need to check out this track. It’s one of the top 5 dirt tracks for racing in the USA.
Katy Trail State Park
This is the 240-mile trail spanning from Machens to Clinton bordering the Missouri river for most of the trip and passing through the capital, Jefferson City. Go get active and take a bike ride or a leisurely walk.
Historic Route 66
Take a nostalgic trip down the over 300 miles of Route 66 while playing Chuck Berry’s song of the same name. You can veer off the road to stop at some interesting spots like the World’s 2nd largest rocking chair, the Route 66 state park, or even the Hubble Space Telescope replica.
Big Cedar Lodge
Besides going to see the gorgeous architecture and beautiful landscapes of Bass Pro’s founder Johnny Morris’ Big Cedar Lodge, the adventure awaits you. You can go to rent a little log cabin so you can participate in a multitude of outdoor activities.
