Treating your special someone to date night is a great way to show your affection and spark some romance in your relationship.

While we want to smother our significant other with grand gestures and elaborate acts of love whenever we can, sometimes the chaos and craziness of life happens, and getting out of the house just isn’t an option. That’s no reason for your love life to suffer, though! We’ve put together some great ideas for when you want to kick it with your honey at home and still make it a special night for you both!

Create your own drive-in movie theater

Who says you have to be outdoors for this? Grab all the pillows and blankets that you can manage and create a space on the floor so you can cozy up to your person, along with a bowl of popcorn and a good plot line. If you want to outdo yourself, you can purchase a mini projector online for fairly cheap and really set the scene. Don’t argue about who gets to pick the movie!

Game night

For the competitive couple. Grab your favorite board game and bring out the inner kid in one another. Though it doesn’t seem like much, board games are a great way to spend quality time together and cancel out any additional noise keeping you apart. Keep it interesting and play for something. Stakes are much higher if the loser has to do laundry for a week.

Cook a fancy meal at home

Not only do you not have to worry about making reservations, but you can save a few bucks too! Ask your spouse what their favorite meal is and use some of the cash you were going to spend on a nice dinner out to grab a few groceries from the store and cook at home instead. Don’t just make it any other night though. Set the mood by playing some soft music, lighting a few candles and bringing out the nice dishes. Come on, how romantic is slow dancing in the kitchen?

Go through old photos together

One of the best ways to reconnect with someone is by taking a trip down memory lane. Grab your old photo albums and reminisce on the time you’ve spent together to get to where you are today. Use this as an opportunity to set aside some time just for you two and rekindle the romance by going back to where it all started.

Do a home project together

Is too much to do at the housekeeping you from leaving it? We all want things checked off our to-do list but sometimes they make us put our relationship on the back burner. Don’t allow your chores and home projects to be an excuse for not spending time with your partner and instead, enlist their help. Why accomplish something alone when you can accomplish it together? You’d be surprised just how romantic caulking the bathroom tile together could be. (Mostly because that means you don’t have to do it by yourself.)

Turn on some romantic tunes to get the mood right. We’ve crafted the perfect fireside playlist for you and your partner’s listening pleasure.
